The creative process, the journey from vision to reality tells a story of the human condition - Of life, love, dreams and the challenges that come with them. Art is the gift that inspires and heals. I make art as a gentle celebration of the little joys. It is my whispered moments of gratitude, and my unwavering intention to hold on to hope, to goodness, to empathy and to love. In honour of the dreamers, growers and the makers. Building community, one bloom & photograph, at a time.
BEHIND THE LENS
To seek the simple joys. Live and love more authentically. To be kind & journey well.
My story actually began when I spent several weeks exploring the world of street photography with photojournalist Peter Turnley. Though I have since discovered that was not my niche, it profoundly inspired my creative journey - photography was really about storytelling, honouring the person/subject in front of the lens, and connecting with moments. Like many creatives during the pandemic, I found refuge in art. This culminated in a series of floral still life photographs I called "In Blooms We Trust" and I suppose the rest is history. I am deeply inspired by Dutch still life paintings, the floral photography works of Irving Penn and the floral creations of Willow Crossley.
MY APPROACH IS SIMPLY THIS:
When it comes to flowers, the idea of a floral still life begins even before the seed is planted (literally). Wherever possible, it is my intention to grow all the flowers that go into creating my floral still life work. The final product is thus a true celebration of nature, and the joy that comes from working and nurturing the land.
Having cups of tea
Dreaming of travel adventures
In the garden, plotting my next planting
Attempting to arrange flowers
Brunch, my ideal start to the day

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
